Calculator FAQs
How accurate is the painting cost calculator?
It is as accurate as the ranges behind it, which are editorial estimates of typical metro pricing for standard prep, not quotes. It cannot see your siding, your trim or your access. Use it to know the range before an estimate visit, not to judge a specific estimate.
Why does square footage change the result?
With a square footage the calculator multiplies floor area by the cost guide’s per-square-foot range for that kind of job, the same way the guide builds its house-size table. Without one, it shows the guide’s range for the house type you pick.
Does the calculator include lead-safe work?
It flags it. Tick the pre-1978 box on an exterior and it shows the cost guide’s figure for lead-safe setup separately, because it applies only to work that disturbs old paint.
